Sonos has today announced the launch of its new range of AirPlay 2-compatible passive speakers for indoor and outdoor use, that have been designed and optimized for Sonos Amp in partnership with Sonance. The collection consists of Sonos In-Ceiling, Sonos In-Wall, and Sonos Outdoor speakers, with the first two now up for preorder.
According to Sonos, its new Architectural line of speakers easily connect to the Sonos Amp and offer the same list of smart features as other speakers in Sonos’ range, including AirPlay 2.
The Sonos In-Ceiling and Sonos In-Wall speakers are designed for indoor use and can be installed flush to a flat surface, while the Outdoor version can be mounted outside the home. The outdoor speakers have been engineered to withstand humidity, water, heat, UV rays, and freezing temperatures.
“Our goal was to create a solution optimized for installers, bringing the Sonos experience to architectural speakers for the first time,” said Sonos CEO Patrick Spence. “Sonance was the natural partner, sharing our passion for high quality, reliable sound solutions inside and outside the home.”
- The $599/pair In-Ceiling speakers bring music into any room and are ideal for spacious, ambient listening.
- The $599/pair In-Wall speakers bring targeted, immersive sound for home theater.
- The $799/pair Outdoor speakers withstand the elements to deliver rich sound outside the home.
The Sonos In-Wall and Sonos In-Ceiling speakers are available for pre-order today with general availability to begin on February 26, while general availability for Sonos Outdoor will follow in April.
