Tangerine to Launch Secure Chat within Mobile Banking App
Bank of Nova Scotia-owned Tangerine has announced the launch of Secure Chat today in French and English for its online banking customers, while the feature will make its way to the company’s Mobile Banking App “in the coming months.”
Secure Chat uses Genesys technology based on a platform built with IBM, and will allow for confidential matters to be discussed online, where previously was only limited to phone support.

Peter Aceto, President and CEO of Tangerine, said “It’s an exciting time for our nearly 2 million clients at Tangerine. We use new, safe and secure technologies to transform the client experience and to help Canadians live better lives.”
Tangerine says the Secure Chat function will operate the same way within its mobile app, and allow for banking transactions to be discussed online.
Current online banking customers can access Secure Chat by signing into their accounts, then going to “Contact Us” to initiate a chat session.
Secure chat means you’ll be able to proceed with specific banking queries, unlike text message or Facebook Messenger support, launched recently by TD Canada Trust.
Stay tuned as the feature should make its way to the Tangerine iOS app soon.

In the meantime, RBC finally updated their app with a better look.
Still waiting for other banking apps to add Touch ID support as well!
BMO has Touch ID for the iPhone.
IKR! They are so slow!
This probably won’t be seen by many, but with the RBC app update you should be warned.. When transferring money, they switched the “To” and “From” accounts around. Realized this morning I had accidentally taken a cash advance on my credit card when I meant to pay it.
Thanks for the heads up.
