Uber Launches ‘Favourite Driver’ Feature Across Canada

Uber’s “Favourite Driver” feature has launched across Canada today, and allows passengers to “favourite” a driver at the end of a journey.

With tens of thousands of Uber drivers in Toronto alone, it’s pretty unlikely that you’ll encounter the same Uber driver twice. But that could be set to change, thanks to Uber’s new “Favourite Driver” feature, which has launched in Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Regina, Toronto, Ottawa, and Montreal this week.

As the name suggests, the feature allows passengers to “favourite” a driver at the end of journey. Then, when a rider goes to pre-schedule a trip in the future, their favourite drivers will be notified in advance, and given first refusal.

An Uber spokeswoman said: “We want to enable drivers to grow their own business in new ways through the app, particularly by capitalising on the great service they provide to their riders.”

After adding a driver as a “favourite” and schedule a ride a minimum of 30 minutes in advance, their Favourite Driver will be notified and have the option of accepting that trip beforehand.

“This was the first item on my wishlist from Uber!” said Binyam Asress, a Calgary-based driver on the Uber platform. “What ‘Favorite Driver’ offers was the very thing requested by many of my riders: the chance to re-book an amazing experience again. Thanks to this new feature, rider loyalty will increase with consistent commitment to excellent service.”

The feature has rolled our previously in the United States and the UK.

“We’re pleased to offer Favourite Driver across Canada,” said Matthew Price, Uber Canada’s General Manager. “With Favourite Driver, drivers can benefit even more from the great service they provide to their customers, growing their own business in new ways through the Uber app.”
