Uber Canada has today announced a new Uber Connect experience for a faster, safer, postage-free option for contactless delivery of holiday cheers within the same city.
As Canadians look for socially-distant ways to keep the holiday spirit alive amid continuing COVID-19 restrictions, Uber Connect allows customers to simply meet their delivery person at the curb after a request is booked, carefully deposit their delivery items in the vehicle, and track the package as they would a trip with Uber.
“Being separated from many loved ones this December, we’re all looking for ways to make this holiday season a bit brighter,” said Matthew Price, General Manager, Uber Canada. “Whether it’s a Secret Santa gift, cookie exchange, or care package, Uber Connect can help you spread some socially distant cheer this year.”
Below are some of the main benefits of Uber Connect:
- ‘Receive a package’ delivery option: In addition to sending packages, users can now request to receive a package. When you need to borrow hardware to hang your holiday lights, simply place the request with the ‘Receive a package’ feature.
- A more accessible, updated booking experience that saves you time: We’ve made it super simple to access the product when you first open the redesigned Uber app, along with clearer instructions that save you time when you’re ready to send – or receive – a package.
- Improved package tracking that delivers peace of mind: In the Uber app, Connect senders and recipients can track where a package is and when it will arrive.
- Enhanced driver and recipient communication: Delivery providers can now anonymously contact the recipient at the time of dropoff. And if you’ve requested an item from someone else, the driver can contact that person too at the time of pickup.
Uber Connect is now available in Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, and Ottawa.
