Canadian Apple Watch Apps Go Live: Transit App, Air Canada, Tangerine [PICS]

Earlier today we shared how Apple gave the ‘green light’ for Apple Watch app updates in the App Store, including Montreal’s Transit App. The developer has shared some screenshots of their app in action and details what it can do:

The app will grant instant access to departure times for nearby routes and a one-tap ‘Take me home’ feature. Directions on where to go will also be available on the Apple Watch.

Air Canada, Tangerine Mobile Banking Updated for Apple Watch

Air Canada has also been updated for Apple Watch, here’s what you’ll be able to do from your wrist:

What’s New in Version 3.24
Air Canada now supports Apple Watch!
– View the status of your flights departing within 24 hours.
– See your countdown to boarding time from your Glances.
– Get notifications when it’s time to check-in and board your flight.
– Use Handoff from your Apple Watch to complete your Check-in from your iPhone.
– We also support Passbook! So any passes stored on your iPhone will also appear on your Apple Watch.

Update: From Air Canada’s official press release:

With our Glance feature, the Air Canada app for Apple Watch readily provides customers with personal and relevant information about flights departing within a 24-hour window. Essential information can be displayed on the user’s Apple Watch and is frequently updated during the day of travel, including Actionable Notifications for check-in and boarding. The app also includes a hand-off feature to enable customers to begin more complex tasks, such as checking-in, that can then be completed either on an iPhone or Mac computer.

As for banking apps, we already know Desjardins has one in the works, but today Tangerine Mobile Banking was updated to note support for Apple Watch as well:

What’s New in Version 1.7.5
The Tangerine banking experience is more convenient than ever before. You’ll receive important notifications, view your Account balances and review transactions all through the simple Apple Watch interface. It’s a whole new way to do banking on the go.

Other apps expected to gain Apple Watch support include theScore and WestJet.

On a side note, this evening, popular to-do app Wunderlist (non-Canadian) was also updated to bring support for Apple Watch.

It’s great to see Apple has prominent apps in its initial launch countries ready to go for Apple Watch. Pre-orders kick off on April 10 and the launch will be on April 24. Check out the Apple Watch Canadian price matrix here.
