Sony to Develop PS4 Remote Play App for PC and Mac

Sony’s President of Worldwide Studios has announced on Twitter that the company is working on a Remote Play app for Windows and Mac users, meaning users will be able to stream and play PS4 games to computers (via The Verge).

This is great news for gamers who don’t want to invest into a compatible Sony smartphone to step into this world, although you’ll need to own a PS4 to make it work. Remote Play is currently available only on various Sony gaming devices, and on smartphones and tablets in the Xperia Z-series from Z2 onwards.

Hopefully, the next step from Sony will be expanding mobile gaming compatibility to major platforms – iOS and Android – but you’ll need to wait for the desktop app to launch first.

What do you mean by “This is great news for gamers who don’t want to invest in a Sony device to step into this world.” ? I believe you are wrong since you will still need to buy a PS4 for it to work (similarly to the Xbox’s remote play feature). This won’t turn your PC/Mac into a PS4. It will just allow you to play PS4 games remotely, while your PS4 is somewhere else in the house.
