My Friday Top Five Favorite iPhone Apps

We all know the iPhone is awesome due to the incredible touchscreen, but what keeps the iPhone fresh and fun is the plethora of apps via the App Store and Cydia (for jailbroken iPhones). Today I’m going to mix things up with a little something I’d like to call my Friday Top Five Favorite Apps.

These are the top apps I’ve been using this week on my iPhone. Let’s keep things nice and simple. I’ll list my top 5, and you will do the same. If everyone shares their top fives, we will most likely see some new apps to try out.

Gary’s Top 5 Favorite iPhone Apps of the Week

1. TwitterFon – this free Twitter app keeps me coming back for more (I still use Tweetie too!)

2. Bolt – this full screen web browser is FREE for a limited time (regular price $3.99)

3. Shovel – this free app makes reading Digg a breeze (I had this for dessert last night–angioplasty FTW!)

4. Flickit – this free app lets you upload picture to Flickr easily

5. Fastlane Lite – even though this is the free version, the graphics and controls have won me over (yes, that is me about to crash into a wall)

Be sure to let me know so I can waste my weekend playing on my iPhone–yet again!

Why Bolt? I don’t really see the appeal of it – Safari does a nice enough job for me.

Fido just dis-continued a service that is vital to my business. They shut off the call forwarding after 4 rings feature. Now, I have to manually activate it from my phone however, my phone will now not ring at all and get forwarded immediately, which is not what I need. Is there a feature out there that will allow me to forward after 4 rings? Jailbroken or not… please email me at: andrewszal at gmail.com

Ok, so usually these lists are great – BUT, why BOLT! ?????

I bought this app because of the reviews on the App Store (which I now believe were mostly written by the author and his friends).

So, we have a browser which is full-screen – that’s good. But…

-It’s either slower or the same speed as Safari.
-It has no bookmarks – no ability to add bookmarks, no ability to import them.
-It doesn’t have tabs or allow for multiple pages to be open.
-You have to manually enter in every address, but it doesn’t allow you to enter an address with anything other that .com (.net, .ca, .info, etc) – it turns all of these into .ca.com, .net.com, .info.com

So, more or less, I find this app to be completely worthless. It takes Safari, makes it full screen, but takes away EVERY other function of safari. So, out or great curiosity, why in the world did this app make it to you top list? Am I missing something????

5. i.TV – TV guide for iphone in your local market
4. Remote – turns iphone into a remote for your iTunes/AirTunes
3. PDA Net – Tether internet from my iphone to my macbook –
2. Facebook – Isn’t it obvious
1. FStream – I’ve found pretty much every station I’ve listened to since I was a little kid, and them some more. (CBC Radio 1, Team12640, Team1040, 107.7 The End, SONiC, 97.1 Free TALK FM, Which now sucks because they got rid of their #1 Tom Leykis and have over ridden it with crappy music. They still rock the Adam Carola and Danny Bonaduccie or whatever that juicemonkey’s name is…
