Next Generation iPhone Details Leaked?
Lots of people have been wondering what we can expect from the next generation iPhone. It’s always hard to guess since Apple is pretty good at keeping launches ho-hum until the last minute.
Well, MacRumors is reporting some very intriguing details that were supposedly “leaked” by a Chinese website forum. I would say out of all the rumors out there, this one seems the most “authentic” if you call it that. Here’s a screenshot that was posted…
The next iPhone is supposed to have the following improvements:
– 600MHz CPU Speed (up from 400MHz)
– 256MB RAM (up from 128MB)
– Digital Compass and FM
– 3.2 megapixel camera with auto focus
– 32GB size
– No major changes in battery, screen and external casing.
Also, the image posted depicts a new iPhone model number that has 32GB of storage. I’m a bit skeptical at these minor improvements, as you would think Apple would definitely step up and change the game once again with their next iPhone.
Also, I don’t know if these Chinese factory workers would be willing to put their jobs (and possibly lives!) on the line for the sake of leaking iPhone details. You never know when you might just “disappear” in communist China! muahaha!
My Wishlist For the Next iPhone
If the above details were true, I would say that’s a pretty minor update that wouldn’t be worth upgrading to if you have an iPhone 3G. I would like to see the following issues addressed by Apple:
– better battery life (this should be the #1 issue! Top tips for saving battery life are here)
– stronger casing (we’ve all heard the plastic cracks)
– more RAM, faster CPU
– increased screen resolution
– increased earpiece/speaker volume
Anyways, WWDC 2009 is around the corner and when it starts, get ready for the launch of OS 3.0 and possibly a new iPhone announcement. Once we go deeper into May, expect juicier iPhone details to be announced on the interwebs!

I saw these rumours too, and was less than impressed with the specs too. Also, what’s all the fuss about the iPhone having a compass, whoopty do… 😉
Honestly though, I’ll get ANY new iPhone that’s released… even if it’s only a minor upgrade from the 3G, it’s leaps and bounds ahead of my 2G 🙂
I also read about this, not sure how true… I would like see LOTS of upgrades for a new iPhone, but no need to name because its never gonna have with Apple lol Maybe iPhone 8G Turbo will have the add ons I want 😛
Why would you want increased earpiece/speaker volume? You must have your hearing checked then.

most of the new features for the new iphone are going to come from the 3.0 software and will be specifically made for that iphone.. but thats just my thoughts… still i do that that is a significant upgrade because wasn’t the 2g iphone a 233Mhz and now were at 600Mhz? .. and doubled the storage improved the camera, added new features. What i think some people are missing is actually how feature rich the iphone is.. what else is there to add you it? .. you tell me, and by all means if you can mass produce something thats better be my guest =)
If you’ve ever tried using your iPhone in a loud environment, the earpiece is not loud enough and the ringer will barely be heard! I actually would rather have a better resolution screen too so I can continue to read your stellar blog commentary 🙂
Marginal hardware improvements. I don’t think this is it for the next iPhone. Especially with Apple buying up all sorts of memory and getting their ducks in a row for a big launch. There has to be more improvements to come….(hopefully?)
Hi.. My 2g unlocked iphone is great. I get the apps I need, pay as u go plan.. and I am not waiting. and waiting, and wondering, be satisfied with what you have.. The Blackerry ( and thank goodness ) it is a Canadian product has more features by far….
and IMHO will surpass the iphone in the not too distant future.
