imeem Mobile is an application that lets you enjoy streaming music wherever you are and also find new music that you enjoy. The app lets you stream, search and purchase music using iTunes with a WiFi or a cellular data connection. Because this is a streaming application, you will need either your device WiFi connection or a cellular data plan from your wireless carrier.
imeem Mobile comes with a ton of features, some of which allow you to create custom artist stations with music from your favorite music artists, listen to featured radio stations and share music via email to friends. The app is similar to services such as last.fm and Pandora in that it offers a streaming service for music and radio, however imeem has a unique feature that sets it apart from the rest: Cloud storage.
With imeem Mobile, you can upload 100 of your own songs for free to be used and streamed to your device without using the device storage capacity. To do so, you sign up on imeem.com and upload your songs to the web service using Mac/PC compatible software provided by imeem. As mentioned earlier, the first 100 songs are free, however to use more storage there is an attached cost:
The main menu screen of imeem Mobile is easy to use and navigate. You have options for featured stations, MyMusic (which is an area where you store your songs), a favorites section and a search function. Once you are listening to a song, the playback screen has options for pause/play, skip controls and a menu button that pulls up additional options to buy the song on iTunes, share it with a friend or mark it as a favorite song or artist. There is also an information button that provides you with a brief bio of the current artist.
Aside from menu options and cloud storage, imeem Mobile does not offer any additional features such as audio quality settings found in Pandora or other similar apps. However, imeem Mobile does have a nice compliment of features and good sound quality considering that the app is free.
