You Can Now Jailbreak iOS 16.4.1 with Palera1n 2.0.0 Beta 6
Codenamed Bakepale, the latest v2.0.0 beta 6 update to jailbreak tool Palera1n has just been released, which fully supports iOS 16.4 - iOS 16.4.1 jailbreak.

Geohot announced he was going to release his universal jailbreak limera1n on 10/11/10, a day after the Chronic Dev Team was going to release their greenpoison jailbreak.
Looks like Geohot has decided to release his jailbreak a day early limera1n is now available for download (Windows only). Here are the details from limera1n.com:

According to MuscleNerd, SHAtter is now going to be delayed:
SHAtter will be held back now, so it’s not the worst possible scenario. Who knows, maybe SHAtter can even be improved
iPhone3GS & iPhone4 ultrasn0w unlockers: stay away from today’s limera1n. Wait for PwnageTool, else you’ll lose unlock
We haven’t tested this yet, but if you have, be sure to let us know how successful you are with Geohot’s limera1n jailbreak. I’m going to wait for PwnageTool as usual. Can’t go wrong with official jailbreak tools from the iPhone Dev Team.

make sure when u click make it rain that you read what you are suppose to do. You need to hold the power and home button until it tells u to release it

Has anybody successfully jailbroken using this on a mac running Windows in VMware?
Works great. I had to install the latest iTunes (because I never use my Windows machine) before it would go past “Waiting for device…” but otherwise, took 30 seconds to JB and a reboot.
I might sound stupid but .. I’ve bought so many apps on cydia when I had my 3GS, then upgraded to IP4, and ofcourse finally able to JB.. how do you get cydia to recognize your purchases? it recognized one and the rest seem to say I need to purchase..
any help?

Hey the jailbreak doesnt seem to be working with iPhone 3Gs MB model, on 4.1 i tried everything? i tried it on differen iphone4s and it was working fine just the iphone 3gs didnt work

I’ve got iPhone 4 with iOS 4.1 (8B117). My baseband is 02.10.04.
The phone is locked to Fido, and I want to jailbreak it and use in on Rogers. I do have a PC. From what I’ve read, limera1n does not let you unlock as well as jailbreak. Do i have to wait for something else to unlock? If so, what? And when is it expected?
Can I jailbreak using this in the meantime, then get the unlock later? What do you recommend? Thanks in advance.
well when i first tried it… I could not see cydia, so I rebooted… I still could not see cydia, so then I used spotlight to find it, upgraded cydia… and I could see it, smooth sailing from there on out!
So far so good…I4 running on 4.1 FW, no problems to be reported..yet…Thanks Geohot!!!!!!!!!!!!

It’s going to be delayed, and re-programmed to use the limera1n exploit, so
SHAtter can be saved for later.

Also I got my iphone 4 with fw 4.1 so will i be able to unlock it with limera1n or i will have to wait for an unlock.

Tried it on my iPhone 4 and it goes through the process, says the jailbreak is done and then I can’t find the limera1n icon. Rebooting does not help. Searching for it doesn’t bring it up. Definitely not working 100%
Jailbreak worked. FaceTime not working. It worked before I used limera1n. Just keeps saying waiting to activate.

Here is what I did to unlock my iphone 4 on 4.1 using the new jailbreak
First this is only for IPHONE 4!!!!!!!!
Second follow the steps laid out on this website(http://www.redmondpie.com/update-iphone-4-on-ios-4.1-without-upgrading-1.59.00-baseband-to-2.10.4/), make sure you get this right the first time because there is no going back after!!!
Third use limara1n to jailbreak instructions i found here(http://www.ievolution.ca/iphone/how-to-jailbreak-iphone-4-on-ios-4-1-with-limera1n-video/)
and there you go now you should have a jailbroken iphone4 that can still be unlocked!! You are welcome from ice cold Canada!!
if you’ve already updated to a stock 4.1 through iTunes, your baseband is updated and you’ve therefore lost your unlock (possibly forever.)
Wait for the PwnageTool to be updated for limera1n so that you can unlock.
It shouldnt be too long of a wait.
