Leaked Screenshot of iOS 5 and Twitter Integration Surfaces?

WWDC kicks off tomorrow, and the last minute rumours are coming in fast and furious. Earlier we heard about iCloud replacing iTunes, and the possibility of Time Capsules playing a larger role than expected.

The latest picture on the web as posted by TechCrunch reveals an apparent iOS 5 homescreen showing the possible product of the rumoured twitter integration within the next version of iOS. As you’ll notice the weather icon shows celsius (update: this is a regional setting, thanks for the reminder @jordan_yee), the camera app icon looks different, and there’s a slight twitter notification bar up top, that resembles a slimmed down version of MobileNotifier.

Is this what iOS 5 could look like? If it’s real, it’s definitely underwhelming. I’m going to file this under the ‘last minute rumours’ pile. What do you think? Real or fake?

Probs real,

I have my doubts that Apple is going to sway much from their current user interface system.

It’s great in that it works so well, but flawed in that changing it too much will completely break how well it works. (in terms of ease-of-use)

The text “2 Mentions” is set in Myriad, while the rest of the text in the screenshot is set in Helvetica, the default system font since iPhone OS 1.0.

Neither Apple or any decent designer would mix two fonts like that, so I’m going to call fake on this one.

This could be real or fake. Seems like an Apple-esque way to do it. We’ll know tomorrow. Actually, I’m surprised there aren’t more jailbreak tweaks that use this bar. The only one I can think of is MyWi, and that’s pretty much just the tethering bar.

I love these WWDC events. I’m always so excited to go home after work and search for the link to watch online lol.  The notification integration would be really cool, makes me wonder if they are going to do the whole pull down slider at the top like android dose. Perhaps with some quick controls in there like Wifi/Bluetooth on/off.

As for real and fake, I would lean towards to fake side. My reason for that is Apple likes to keep their screens clear of clutter. my eyes would believe it more if the notifications were beside the time with just a simple icon, perhaps a double tap on the status bar to show a list of notifications.

Even this will still be an improvement over the current notification system lol.

iOS 5 looks amazing!  Totally blows the socks off iOS 4 even though it looks EXACTLY same.  LMFAO!

It’s a complete faker.

For one thing, Apple wouldn’t take one app and make it front and centre and take up space at the top of the screen.

They would have to resize all of the icons, which is something they would avoid like the plague.

Good try, though.

Well there will be, look so far 2.0 gave the app store.
3.0 gave bluetooth and Cut/Copy and Paste.
4.0 multitasking, backgrounds and Facetime
5.0… who knows? maybe widgets? better notifications or total UI upgrade (Just saying!)

It would be interesting if Apple announces some sort of self jailbreak in tomorrow’s keynote! Simple no limits. Just present your apps, tweaks and themes to AppStore and we will sell them for you! Fancy that.

Apple is supposed to be an innovative company.  From what I’ve seen with current iOS updates, the’ve dropped the ball long ago.

I think its abt time they bring  some changes in the hardware and o/s layout. most of the features when it comes to operating the phone are similiar to what was offered in orginal iphone…Plus if they are planning on sticking with IPHONE 4S, they should go big with the o/s 5. Plus they need to realized that Andriod has step up their game and unless apple do something about it, Andriod will rule among the end user.
