iPhone 5 Rumours Round Up Compiled into a Video

Haven’t had time to catch up on iPhone 5 rumours? Check out the video below put together by NoWhereElse.fr:

Recently hired by THE Gang, the talented Nicolas Doretti (video) and Axel Guenoun (music) agreed to direct this beautiful video just below and the least we can say is that these young men know what they’re talking about! Based on a very few directions, Nicolas and Axel were able to produce this work, truly matching our expectations and in such a short time.

The video includes rendered images of what the iPhone 5 might look like, and their interpretation of the chances new rumoured features might come to life.

That’s a pretty slick video. I find one of those rumours a little ludicrous though:
Why would anyone need a higher resolution display than the one that’s currently in the iPhone 4? It’s currently the highest resolution product that Apple ships, with pixels nearly indistinguishable to the naked eye at a normal viewing distance. Why would they take such a product and increase the specs, when they haven’t yet updated the resolution of the iPad or numerous other products to something even close to that of the iPhone? Not to mention the waste of money it would be to add pixels that most people can’t see.

If they just increase the screen size then the pixel density decreases resulting in poorer quality.

That’s why I’m personally of the belief that Apple will not increase the screen size. The headache that would create for App developers to once again change their resolution would be ridiculous, and they couldn’t simply scale to a slightly different resolution because the interpolation would end up making it look worse quality than the lower resolution. They’d probably be fine just scaling the resolution up, except for the fact that they’ve cornered themselves by branding their display the “retina display,” and the marginally lower resolution wouldn’t meet those “specs.”
