Rogers and Fido Drop iPhone 4 Price to $99 Days Before ‘iPhone 5’ Launch

With Apple’s ‘Let’s Talk Event’ set to take place on Tuesday, more carriers have slashed their iPhone 4 prices. Telus was the first to initiate when they dropped their price to $99 on a three year term back in mid-August, with the ‘promo’ price set to expire on October 3rd. Bell did the same a few days later. Now, it appears Rogers and Fido have finally joined the party, just days before the announcement of the rumoured iPhone 4S and cheaper iPhone 4.

Both the Rogers and Fido website now show the iPhone 4 in 16 and 32 gigabyte capacities for the price of $99/$199 respectively, on three year contracts. Fido’s website mentions quantities are ‘limited’ at both Fido stores and resellers.

iPhone price drops occur regularly when a new model is set to launch. Rogers and its subsidiary, Fido, both took the longest to drop their iPhone 4 prices quietly. If you’ve been waiting to upgrade to the iPhone 4, you will now have choice to purchase the phone for $99 from the ‘Big 3’.

Anyone out there jumping on these $99 deals, even with the three year contract?

Nope, have a 3G, expired contract. Waiting for the ” real” thing, even though Fido says that can’t comment on a product not yet announced.

Same here, been hanging on to the crappy 3G for over 3 years now. Can’t multitask, keeps crashing, slower than a turtle, got to charge the phone atleast three times a day, can’t believe how bad this phone is. People with the iPhone 3G are what i call patient people.  Bravo. We can finally enjoy multitasking and many other things very soon!

When it was released it was a good phone.  By today’s standard it no doubt is a crappy phone.

Thing is, if you jailbreak broke it properly with the right apps, the phone would run amazing..

all you need is whited00r and fakeclock..google it and your 3G will run like a IP4

I did jailbreak my phone, and it was running slower. Multi-tasking was great but my keyboard typing was soooo slow, it’s allready slow when it isnt jailbroken. I’m just going to wait for the next phone. The jump from a 3G to a iphone 5 will be drastic and worth it. It’ll make the phone feel 100000 times better.

Typical of Rogers to milk the the consumer as long as they can just before the iP5 comes out.
