Remember the Milk Tasks Can Now Be Added By Siri

The creators of the free ‘To Do’ app Remember the Milk have come up with a way to enable Siri to enter tasks into the app, as noted on the company blog. They have demonstrated how it works with the following video:

Here’s how to setup Siri to add tasks to Remember the Milk:

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone 4S
  2. Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars
  3. Tap Add Account…
  4. Tap Other
  5. Underneath Calendars, tap Add CalDav Account
  6. In the ‘Server’ field, enter: www.rememberthemilk.com
  7. In the ‘User Name’ and ‘Password’ fields, enter your Remember The Milk details
  8. Tap Next
  9. You should be returned to Mail, Contacts, Calendars, with the account added. Scroll to the bottom of the screen, and tap Default List
  10. Tap Remember The Milk
  11. You’re done! Start asking Siri to remind you about tasks. 🙂

Let us know if you’re a Remember the Milk user and have set this up. Looks pretty handy! Don’t forget to setup Siri to tweet and update Facebook if you haven’t already.

Uh. Isn’t there a Reminders app that is in OS5 that does this already?!!!

Yes, and it works perfectly with Siri. I use the new ‘Reminders’ app for spontaneous, one-time tasks. I use the ‘Send to OmniFocus’ email feature to add or update recurring tasks or ongoing projects with Siri.

Pretty sneaky way of getting Siri to integrate into a 3rd party app. I wonder what other apps can work this way.

Also, can you fix the link to this blog post from the main site? It doesn’t seem to work, I had to get here through the link on Twitter.

I don’t understand why blogs keep posting this tip for each individual service. Any service that supports email or SMS can use Siri. I’ve been using Siri from day one to send to Twitter, Tumblr, Posterous, OmniFocus, Evernote, and Flickr. Most web services have an email or SMS option.

Siri sometimes has trouble with service names, but I find if you say “send email” and then say the service name when asked, it usually works.
