@Pod2g Warns Users To Stay Away From iOS 5.0.1 If They Want A New Jailbreak

A couple of days back, iOS developer and hacker Charlie Miller found a major security exploit in iOS using which he was able to upload a malware-infested app into the App Store, leading to a permanent shut down of his developer account by Apple. In the light of this development, @pod2g has instructed users to stay away from iOS 5.0.1 if they plan on jailbreaking their devices untethered since Apple is likely going to patch the hole in the next public iOS software update.

He announced this on twitter:

@pod2g: “Note about 5.0.1 : don’t update if you plan on jbking : the bug Charlie MILLER found can simplify exploits dramatically and will be closed.”

Recently @pod2g discovered a new untethered jailbreak exploit in iOS 5.0 for all current devices. Meanwhile, Apple has already seeded iOS 5.0.1 to the developers and some select end users to address major issues regarding poor battery performance on iOS 5.

Now, if you’ve been experiencing poor battery performance as well, you’ll be tempted to upgrade to iOS 5.0.1 but that would mean a potential inability to jailbreak when @pod2g makes his new jailbreak exploit public. Remember, as of now there is no way to downgrade on iOS 5 even if you have your SHSH blobs saved. So guys, do you want a better battery performance or an all new untethered iOS 5 jailbreak?
