iOS 5.0.1 Untethered Jailbreak Achieved for iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 4G, iPad 1, Apple TV2

Pod2G recently announced on twitter the successful iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak for the iPhone 4, and now he has added the iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 4th gen, first gen iPad, and Apple TV2 (on 4.4.3), as noted on his short and sweet blog entries:

Apple TV 2 4.4.3 untethered

Done also. Rush mode = off for today.

Will be able to test in some days, thanks to @firecore that’d ship me an Apple TV 2 for testing !

Thanks mate ! That’s awesome.

iPod 4G 5.0.1 untethered

This one too ! 🙂

iPhone 3Gs 5.0.1 untethered

Code done. Testing tomorrow also !

iPad 1 5.0.1 untethered

Code is done, testing tomorrow with a friend’s device.

Just to let you know my progress in real time.

During the first week of November, pod2g discovered the untether exploit for iOS 5. It was only four days ago that he demonstrated his jailbroken third gen iPod touch on video, that takes advantage of user land exploit:

The exploit is user-land, rely on a user ROP payload and a kernel write anywhere exploit.

Every iOS device now has coded iOS 5 untethered jailbreaks, except for the iPhone 4S and iPad 2. Pod2G noted he doesn’t have access to those devices to test the new exploits on. As for a timeline when these jailbreaks will be released, there is no ETA. We’ll have to be patient as always, and if you want to support pod2g, you can send a donation via his blog.
