Video Demo Of New Jailbreak, Absinthe 2.0

Well, we are getting much closer to a release of the new jailbreak. Earlier today we mentioned that pod2g’s new untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.1.1 was merely days away, and now one of the members of the Chronic Dev Team, @xvolks, has posted a demo of the new jailbreak on YouTube. This demo shows an iPhone 4 GSM, on iOS 5.1.1 being jailbroken with ease.

As you can see, this new jailbreak will be called Absinthe 2.0. If you are an avid jailbreaker, you may recall that the original Absinthe was an untethered jailbreak, specifically for iPhone 4S and iPad 2 on iOS 5.0.1. This new version on Absinthe works pretty much the same as the original version, except it does not install the Absinthe app on your device. It installs Cydia right from your computer, similar to Redsn0w. This is an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.1.1, and works on a lot more devices. Here’s the current list of what can be jailbroken with Absinthe 2.0:

Here is the list of devices that are known to work for sure :

  • iPhone 3Gs
