Rogers Launches the First LTE Network in Moncton [MAP]

Rogers has announced the launch of the first LTE network in Moncton, New Brunswick, as noted noted on the Rogers Redboard:

Rogers LTE network is now live in Moncton, making Rogers the first carrier to offer the fastest wireless network technology in New Brunswick. Rogers has invested $20M in its wireless network in New Brunswick and with today’s news, further expands Rogers LTE network in Atlantic Canada, adding to cities including Halifax and St. John’s.

Below is the coverage map for Moncton:

Rogers launched LTE in Halifax back in April and St. John’s back in February.

Rogers plans to cover approximately 60 percent of the Canadian population by the end of the year with their LTE network. Once again, they noted upcoming LTE launch cities: Trois Rivières, Sherbrooke, Quebec City, Kingston, Ajax, Pickering, Oshawa, Oakville, Burlington, Hamilton, St. Catharines, Niagara, Windsor, Cambridge, Kitchener, Waterloo, Guelph, London, Barrie, Sudbury, Saskatoon, Regina, Winnipeg, Edmonton, Kelowna, Whistler, Abbotsford and Victoria. 2013 will bring even more expansion cities.

With the next iPhone reportedly being announced on September 12th, all signs point to an LTE-enabled phone. With Rogers, Bell and Telus quickly expanding their LTE networks, it looks like Canada will be prepared for faster networking just like it was for the new iPad.

Who’s excited for this latest LTE launch in Moncton?

it would be great if they finally expanded something OTHER than EDGE to Cape Breton. The only places in Nova Scotia with Rogers 3G are Halifax, Dartmouth and Truro. That is crazy!

Living on EDGE is painful after experiencing 3G.

Edge only data, I feel bad for you. Hopefully soon you can get usable 3G at least.

Well, so far 6GB LTE data plans don’t have any extra charge versus their 3G counterparts.

I moved 28 km away from Moncton. I had to switch from Rogers to bell. Rogers coverage in NB is rotten unless you live in 1 of the big cities. In my driveway. I had 1 bar. In my house no service. Had to pay $400 buy out of contract because there phone was useless.
