BBM for iOS, Android Tops 10 Million Downloads in 24 Hours

BlackBerry has announced in 24 hours, downloads of BBM for iOS and Android have surpassed 10 million downloads:

It’s been 24 hours since we resumed the launch of BBM for Android and iPhone. And what a day it’s been! We’ve already had more than 10 million downloads of BBM.

The company also reveals BBM for iOS is now in the number one spot in more than 75 countries “including the US, Canada, the UK, Indonesia and most of the Middle East.”

Next up? BlackBerry says BBM Video, BBM Voice and BBM Channels will be coming to iPhone and Android “in the near future”.

Last night, the company revealed on Twitter the app had surpassed 5 million downloads. Currently BBM for iOS tops the free download charts within the App Store. Are you using BBM for iOS right now? How do you like it?

OMG. It’s simply horrible. Try to send your contacts your PIN? The contact list isn’t even in alpha order. When you search your contacts manually by entering a name it will allow you to select it, but you can’t do anything else. I tried this with my SMS contacts. App is a joke…and Apple approved this app?!

BBM is now broke since ios 7.0.3 update……crashes and has to be reinstalled when a pic is send or received.

So what if they have 10 million downloads. How does this make Blackberry any money? How does this ‘save’ Blackberry?

It doesn’t. The botched launch just makes them look bad. Just BlackBerry being BlackBerry!

just bypassed the email wait earlier today by force closing the app, (it’s taken a few attempts) . i can see a lot of potential as a communication/messaging system in particular for setting up groups and to handle tasks, events/meetings and more info, data and docs sharing/exchanging. what was the BB statement about the messages encryption ? take care, marc
