
NPD: 42% of US Consumers Chose the iPhone in Q4 2013
The NPD Group has released the results of its Connected Intelligence Connected Home Report, declaring Apple and Samsung the winners in the past quarter, as more US consumers opt for iPhones and Samsung Android phones (via The Next Web).
According to their latest data, Apple’s market share climbed to 42% in the US compared to 35% the previous quarter. Samsung also increased its customer base in the country from 22% to 26% in the fourth quarter of 2013. BlackBerry’s market share, on the other hand, continued to shrink during the same period.
Smartphone penetration stands at 60% in Q4 of 2013, as the report highlights. The findings, based on a 5000-person survey, are very similar to what comScore has been publishing lately. According to their data, Apple holds a 41.2% share of the market, and Samsung 26%, as of November, and about 63.8% of wireless subscribers own a smartphone in the US.
