Purported Image Leak of the iPad Air 2 Front Panel [PICS]

While iPhone 6 rumours have been surfacing thick and fast, those around the second-generation iPad Air have been absent – until today. A set of pictures has now been published by Dutch site One More Thing (via MacRumors).

What’s interesting is that the leaked parts apparently include an integrated display instead of the separate panel and display parts used for the currently available model.

iFixit co-founder Kyle Wiens corroborated the possible authenticity of the assembly to MacRumors, and said that the manufacturing process could be similar to that of the Retina MacBook Pro. The process could make iPad repair harder, but you may recall that Apple has been leaning in this direction (see the latest Apple device repairability score given by iFixit).

The next-generation iPad will presumably launch sometime this fall, and according to KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, it will ship with Touch ID, the fingerprint scanner that is projected to lay the groundwork for mobile payments.
