iPhone 6 Said to Bring Minor Battery Upgrade

Battery life is an area where the iPhone has room for improvement, and don’t set your expectations too high with the iPhone 6, the rumour mill suggests. As you have heard, the next-generation handset will come with a larger screen, but the battery planned for use in the iPhone 6 will likely disappoint, because it is only a slight boost compared to the iPhone 5s/5c, claims the Chinese Digit.it.sohu (via GforGames).

Sources speaking with the Chinese media claim the 4.7-inch iPhone will likely ship with a battery of between 1,800 mAh and 1,900 mAh. By comparison, the iPhone 5s comes with a 1,570 mAh battery.

Interestingly enough, the bigger, 5.5-inch iPhone 6 is said to pack a 2,500 mAh battery, which doesn’t sound bad, but if we compare it to the LG G3, still looks small, especially considering that the latter had a 3,000 mAh battery.

We should mention here, though, that after being subjected to stress tests, the iPhone 5s battery life tests were decent enough to beat the Samsung Galaxy S4, Sony Xperia Z1, and Nexus 5, so this should be considered before jumping to early conclusions. By the way, the Nexus 5 packs a 2,300 mAh battery, while the Samsung Galaxy S4 has a 2,600 mAh battery.

In other words, the rumoured specs are just part of the bigger picture and may influence the overall experience, but let’s not forget about Apple’s tight software–hardware integration.
