Japanese Magazine Leaks Alleged 12.2-Inch ‘iPad Air Plus’ Blueprint [PIC]
In case you were wondering whether Apple is serious about pushing out a bigger iPad sometime in the future, Japanese newspaper Mac Fan may have an answer for you, and it’s affirmative. To confirm the rumours, they have also published the blueprint of the so-called iPad Air Plus unit that Apple allegedly plans to launch sometime in the second quarter.
According to information obtained by Mac Fan, the 12.2-inch iPad Air Plus (earlier reports mentioned a 12.9-inch display and iPad Pro) measures 305.31 x 220.8 x 7.0 mm, and it sports an A9 chip. By contrast, Apple uses the A8X chip in the iPad Air 2, which launched last month.
The 12.2-inch iPad has four built-in speakers for stereo playback, sources revealed to Mac Fan. Alongside the iPad Air Plus, Apple will allegedly launch the iPad mini 4, which will be powered by the A8X chip, MacOtakara speculates.
Rumours of a 12.9-inch iPad Pro gained traction this year, especially after Apple launched the two iPhone 6 models this fall. Mac Fan has been accurate before about the iPhone 6 models, posting the measurements way before the launch of the devices.
However, this still remains a rumour until confirmed by other sources, so it needs to be taken with a grain of salt.
