After Yahoo and Bing, it was the turn of the world’s biggest search engine, Google, to show the mirror and reveal what Canadians searched for this year. As the giant reveals in a blog post, Canadians this year searched for Sochi, Brazil Ebola, and of, course, the iPhone 6.
Google’s 14th annual Year in Search acts like a mirror: It reveals what represented interest for connected Canadians in 2014, whether it be people, places, events, or gadgets.
Eight out of ten of the top trending technology searches in Canada were related to mobile or wearable technology. As it turns out, Canadians were interested in learning more about the iPhone 6.
Apple dominates searches related to technology: Besides the iPhone 6, which is ranked #1, we find the iPad Air 2 (#6), iOS 8 (#7), and the iWatch (#9) on the list. That’s four terms out of the top ten searches.
Apple did well in the Top Trending Canadian Searches as well, ranking #3 right after Robin Williams and the World Cup. In fact, the iPhone 6 represented more interest for Canadians than the Winter Olympics (#4) or even Ebola (#5), the list reveals.
