Bell today announced that it has officially turned on its 4G LTE network in 120 more small communities in Québec and Ontario, as it deployed the recently licensed 700 MHz bands and other spectrum assets. The announcement follows an earlier launch of 4G LTE network in 52 small communities in 4 provinces in Atlantic Canada.
The carrier is on track to connect 98% of Canada’s population to its next generation network. Currently Bell covers 86% of the population.
“Bell is proud to offer consumers and businesses everywhere the benefits of high quality, high bandwidth mobile data access made possible by LTE,” said Wade Oosterman, President of Bell Mobility. “From Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pocatière to Grafton, Pickle Lake to Bromont, customers can now access the same great broadband service and mobile applications as customers in major centres across Canada. For people living, working or travelling in rural Québec and Ontario, wireless just got better.”
In addition to the 120 small communities, Bell is also expanding its LTE network in a number of cities and towns, such as Peterborough, Maitland and North Bay in Ontario, and Rigaud, Saint-Alexandre-D’Iberville and Sainte-Julie in Québec, where it is already deployed.
