Here are Apple’s USB-C Accessories for the New 12″ Retina MacBook [PICS]

Apple has offered up some new accessories for its brand new 12-inch Retina MacBook, which houses one USB-C port only on one side and a 3.5mm headphone jack on the other.

The Canadian Apple Store is listing the following accessories:

  • USB-C to USB Adapter: $25
  • USB-C Charge Cable (2m): $35
  • Apple 29W USB-C Power Adapter: $59
  • USB-C VGA Multport Adapter: $99
  • USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter: $99

The new 12-inch Retina MacBook weighs 2 pounds, is 13.1mm thin, comes with a new full-size keyboard, a Force Touch trackpad and comes just one USB-C port to allow for five ports in one. Oh, and it offers silver, space gray and gold colour options too.

Below is an image of the digital AV multiport adapter, which gives you one USB-C port, one HDMI port and one old fashioned USB port; this adapter will cost you $99 CAD:

The new 12-inch MacBook starts at $1,549 CAD ($1299 USD), which comes with a 1.1 GHz dual-core Intel Core M processor with Turbo Boost speeds up to 2.4 GHz, 8GB of memory, 256GB of flash storage and Intel HD Graphics 5300. You going to get one?

I’ll wait for the cheaper semi-generic adapters, thanks… This is USB-C so it had better act according to standards.

so how do you connect an external monitor ? HDMI only? I see no USB-C -> DisplayPort adapter.

so what happens to their thunderbolt standards??? Cinema display and thunderbolt hard drives? Is Apple abandon that standards?

Yes, I think it said 4 things – with the one adapter you can plug in a screen, usb device and charge.
