Facebook Messenger for iOS Launches Video Calling in Canada and More
Facebook has announced video calling today for Facebook Messenger and its 600 million monthly active users. Video calling allows any Facebook messenger user to call each other on iOS and Android.
As of today, the video calling feature launches in Belgium, Canada, Croatia, Denmark, France, Greece, Ireland, Laos, Lithuania, Mexico, Nigeria, Norway, Oman, Poland, Portugal, the UK, the US and Uruguay, with other regions rolling out in the “coming months”.
For serial Facebook Messenger users, this basically allows another way for you to do video chats with friends on Android (versus something like Skype, etc). With lots of people using Messenger as a way to communicate, this could open doors for easier access to video chats, simulating the simplicity of FaceTime.
Earlier this month, Facebook Messenger launched as a standalone version on the web to make it easier to focus on chats outside of Facebook.com.
