Up until today, the Cardboard app was only available on Android, where it has been downloaded over a million times. The company has also announced an updated Cardboard SDK, which will allow developers to create virtual experiences for iOS and Android.

Cardboard was first announced at Google I/O 2014. Cardboard for iOS is available as a free download from the App Store. The app requires any device running iOS 8 or later and has been optimized for the iPhone 5, 6, and 6 Plus.

I got a knock off viewer awhile ago for about $10 on eBay. This has worked in iOS for quite some time, just not the cardboard app specifically.

If you’re in the market for a viewer. Make sure to buy the newly released Google Cardboard Version 2. It uses a push button system to navigate, rather than the annoying magnet system. Google just announced it when they announced the iOS app, so it’s not available on Amazon yet.
