Apple’s widely rumoured 4-inch iPhone 6c may hit the shelves as early as April next year. According to a roadmap recently shared by China Mobile during an event while discussing its upcoming plans for 2016, the Chinese carrier has hinted at an April 2016 release date for Apple’s new 4-inch iPhone handset, MacRumors reports (via MyDrivers). This release date is also in line with previous rumours that have suggested that such a device will debut during the first months of next year.

“Today’s report from MyDrivers refers to the 4-inch iPhone as the “iPhone 7c,” but Apple is unlikely to use that nomenclature for a device that launches ahead of the “iPhone 7,” the name most probable for the 2016 flagship iPhone coming in September. All previous rumors have instead referred to the 4-inch iPhone as the “iPhone 6c.”

The alleged device is expected to feature an aluminum chassis similar to the iPhone 5s with several colour options and a curved cover glass like the iPhone 6 and 6s devices. It may also pack the same A9 processor used in the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus, along with an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera.

A recent report has also claimed that Apple will be holding an event in March 2016 where it will introduce a second-generation Apple Watch also a new 4-inch iPhone.
