iPhone 7 Again Said to Come in Three Variants, More Storage Options

Chinese site Wechat claims it has knowledge of the upcoming iPhone 7: When it is launched this fall, customers will be able to choose from three variants – iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, and iPhone 7 Pro – and the entry-level version will finally have bigger storage than 16 GB (via 9to5Mac).

While the information Wechat’s sources whispered may already sound familiar, there is one little twist they throw in. Earlier rumours have suggested the iPhone 7 will have 32, 64, and 256 gigabyte storage tiers, but the latest report claims this isn’t quite the case.

Apparently, Apple wants to increase not just the entry-level tier of the iPhone (to 32 GB), but the mid-tier as well. As a result, the upcoming iPhone’s storage options will be 32, 128, and 256 gigabytes for all three models, according to Wechat. We should take the rumour with a grain of salt, though …

Apple’s entry-level storage option for the iPhone has been 16 GB for a while now (don’t forget those who are still using an iPhone 4 with 8 GB of storage), so a move to increase storage is welcome. For them, however, Apple does have a solution, as explained by Apple SVP Phil Schiller in an interview with John Gruber last year: iCloud. By the way, he said the money Apple saved on lower-end iPhones could go toward the high-cost components of the device.

iCloud is great for photos but not so good for videos. They take too long to load and sometimes they don’t load at all.
