Apple To Replace AirPod Batteries For Free Under Warranty, $49US Without

Apple’s AirPods are an expensive piece of miniature equipment and since battery technology for Apple products haven’t evolved at all, do not expect these wireless devices to last a long period of time.

Since they feature the same battery type found in smartphones and tablets, they will degrade equally, which is why, according to a new report from 9to5Mac, Apple is replacing the batteries for free for owners who still have their AirPods under warranty, as detailed in a new support document.

If you haven’t noticed Apple’s Service Pricing page, you will notice the details regarding the AirPods’ battery replacement pricing, but to clear up all the confusion, here is how everything will work.

If you take a look at the table above, you will see that Apple is going to be charging $49 USD to replace the battery of the AirPods if they are not covered under warranty. If they are covered under warranty, then you will not be required to pay a single dime.

However, you should also be informed that while Apple does provide free battery replacements for these products, it will not provide free servicing for the eventual wear and tear of the AirPods, which is bound to happen should you continue to use them on a daily basis.

Apple’s AirPods started online sales earlier this week and are sold out, with the next delivery date pegged for 6 weeks away. AirPods are expected to hit Apple Stores next week sometime, priced at $219 CAD. You can find out how to track real-time stock here.

According to a press release from Apple, AirPods will be sold in limited quantities, which is why fans should always check online for updates. An Apple spokeswoman previously said they need more time to make sure AirPods are truly ready for customer use, and it looks the wait is finally over.
