‘iPhone 8’ to Pack 5.8″ Screen, Glass Back, Stainless Steel Frame: Report

Apple’s much-anticipated high-end iPhone 8 will reportedly pack a 5.8-inch screen and a glass and stainless steel chassis , according to a new report from DigiTimes on Tuesday. The updated 4.7-inch model will continue using an aluminum-alloy chassis, say sources.

The report also stated that Apple plans to release 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch models. This again suggests that Apple plans on releasing some sort of regular iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus in addition to the flagship 5.8-inch iPhone 8.

“The reinforced glass chassis’ stainless steel metal frame will be supplied by Foxconn Technology and US-based Jabil Circuit, while the aluminum-alloy chassis will be supplied by Catcher Technology,” DigiTimes said.

Another interesting, if not disconcerting, tidbit is that since the phone is expected to ship with an OLED panel, the smartphone’s price is estimated at more than $1,000 USD.

“Although Casetek, a metal chassis subsidiary of Pegatron Technology, has been aggressively sending engineering samples to Apple and establishing new production bases to prepare for Apple’s orders, the company has so far still not obtained significant orders for the next-generation iPhones,” continues the report.

Apple’s iPhone 8 is also expected to feature a fingerprint reader embedded below the display, a high-end OLED screen and maybe even an iris scanner. Apple typically unveils its new iPhones in September, so we’re still a ways away from any sort of official news on the device.

All for what seems to be in the range of $1600 for 128GB and Apple care? They can keep it.

Well. Do you really trust the closest competitor, Samsung? Apple and common sense says otherwise.

Oneplus 3t. Half the cost and held its own head to head and has a dual sim capability.

HALF. For the price of 2 phones… sorry. Apple isn’t THAT good.

Nope. There is only one credible source for iPhone rumours and it’s not digitimes
