Freedom Mobile Launches LTE Network in Calgary, Edmonton
Shaw’s Freedom Mobile has announced today the expansion of its LTE network in Alberta, now offering faster speeds in Calgary and Edmonton.
“Canadians have told us that providing them with reliable network coverage that offers enhanced speeds and faster downloads at a fair and reasonable price is a priority for them, and we’ve listened,” said Paul McAleese, Chief Operating Officer, Freedom Mobile, in a press release.
“The launch of our powerful new LTE network furthers our commitment to providing Freedom Mobile customers in Calgary and Edmonton access to the same enhanced experience that those in the Greater Toronto Area, Southern Ontario and the Greater Vancouver Area currently enjoy.”
Freedom Mobile’s LTE network is also available in Toronto and Vancouver, which launched back in the fall of 2016. The LTE network runs on Band 66 (AWS-3), which is not compatible with Apple’s current iPhone line up (but that may change when new models emerge this fall), yet. I’d be surprised if Freedom Mobile isn’t a launch partner for ‘iPhone 8’ this fall.
The company says they “will continue forward with planned updates for a complete LTE rollout by the end of 2017.”
