All Three 2017 iPhones Have Entered Volume Production: DigiTimes

A new supply chain report today described strong July sales for component suppliers in the iPhone supply chain, hinting at an increase in momentum for production on the 2017 iPhone lineup.

According to a new report from DigiTimes, companies including flexible PCB suppliers Zhen Ding Technology Holding, Flexium Interconnect, and PCB supplier Compaq Manufacturing saw revenue increases last month, suggesting iPhone production is underway.

“Most component and service suppliers in the iPhone supply chain have reported strong sales for July, indicating that production for new iPhone devices is gaining momentum, according to industry sources,” reads the report.

Sources speaking with DigiTimes have said that all three of the new iPhones – the “iPhone 8,” “iPhone 7S,” and “iPhone 7S Plus” – have now entered volume production.

“All of the three new iPhone models, including two LCD and one OLED model, have entered volume production, said the sources, adding that there will not be shortages for the two LCD models, but the supply of the OLED version could fall short of demand due to high expectations for the model,” the report continues.

Shipments of completed iPhones are expected to gain momentum this month, Digitimes says, which means the companies that actually manufacture the iPhones, including Foxconn, Pegatron, and Wistron, should see increased revenues from September to November as well.

iPhone suppliers are expected to operate in high gear in the second half of the year, which may lead to monthly or quarterly revenue records, the report notes.
