Visual Size Comparison Between Apple’s iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X

Reddit user 440k has posted a visualization of the size differences between Apple’s latest smartphone lineup, including the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X.

Taking a look at the visualization of screen size above, we can see that the iPhone X clearly has the largest display. However, if we take a look at the physical form factor of these devices, the iPhone X is only slightly bigger than the iPhone 8.

You can take a look at all of the images that visualize the size differences between all three devices from this link.

Apple’s iPhone 8 and 8 Plus have been very well received over the past week since launch. The iPhone X won’t be available for pre-order until the end of this month.

It seems misleading by Apple to say that the X has the largest screen since the 8+ has a wider screen than the X. That will likely give the 8+ a bigger real estate for watching HD videos, no? I also think the area of the usable screen of the 8+ is probably larger, no? I’m not sure how much the extra height on the X will help since no one currently has that part of the screen programmed in their apps and I wonder how much of a rush developers will be in to take advantage of the space on that one model?

I’d say the plus models and the X are about the same size. I always wanted a smaller phone then my 6plus but not sure I want to sacrifice the width of it to a X. If they took the plus model and cut out the bezels. I’d be all over it lol

It is easy to mistake the 5.8″ screen for being same screen size as the 5.5″ Plus model

The 5.8″ device does have more pixels, yes. But this is due to the height. The moment you watch say a netflix video properly, the X will show it natively as the 4.7″ phones do due to the width. You’ll be able to double tap on the video to increase the picture but you will then crop out the picture (plus the notch will be in the way)

The 5.5″ Plus models will still show a larger picture in Netflix, on the internet, on every app. It is why they look different in portrait mode. Width is the key here. The iPhone X is more or less a taller 4.7″ display.

Yes, you are correct. The Plus models still have the largest viewing angles.

The X will have same width as the 8/7/6s/6 so even though the screen is the largest, it is vertically larger. It won’t actually display more width so for example watching a 16:9 film will be the same on the 8/7/6s/6 as the X, whereas it will be larger on the 5.5″ Plus models

The 5.5 Plus models still offer the LARGEST picture. A lot of people who are going from the Plus model to the X are going to be in shock if they don’t do their research ahead of time…they’ll be getting taller screen estate but not more** it will be the same as a 4.7″ iPhone with taller screen estate (so more fits the screen but not as wide) it is hard to explain; some youtube videos show this off visually and it is much easier to understand.

Think of the X as a taller iPhone 6/6s/7/8 in terms of viewing angles.

The rumoured 6 inch iPhone that will come next year will be the model that will replace the Plus sized devices, the way the X replaces the 4.7″ devices.

The plus models will still offer the largest screen viewing width, despite having a smaller diagonal and less pixels than the X. It all has to do with the width of the devices (“21:9″ ratio vs 16:9). The X will be a taller 4.7” screen in terms of how the videos and apps are viewed.

What ^^these guys^^ are saying (and what I’ve said since it was announced).
The iPhone X screen says is just friggin stupid. A completely pointless feature (unless you want to see an itty bitty expansion to the panorama in iPhone X specific games (oh wait— your thimbs will be there… or someplace awkward),
