The Verge Picks Google’s Pixel 2 XL as the Best Smartphone Camera of 2017

Over the past year, smartphone cameras have really improved. For once, we can finally talk about more than just Apple and Samsung when referring to the “top tier” of smartphone camers.

After years of racing to cram more megapixels into the camera, we now have smartphones with dual cameras and software-driving photography. For the comparison The Verge, picked the iPhone X, Google Pixel 2 XL, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, the HTC U11, and the LG V30.

The smartphones were all put to the test in different scenes, including low light, daylight, portrait mode, selfies, dual cameras. All the smartphones on the list faired extremely well, but one came on top.

Based on the tests conducted, the Google Pixel 2 XL had the best camera of all five smartphones. The Pixel 2 XL consistently captures the most accurate colours and detail in some of the more challenging lighting environments. The iPhone X has the best telephoto lens out of all the smartphones put to the test, which offers the most versatility.

Be sure to checkout the full comparison of all five smartphone cameras from The Verge.

And readers pick Verge as a source of fake news.

I’m not sure what anybody sees about a Google Pixel XL to complain about. It’s a perfectly awesome phone and camera. May not be perfection but nothing to complain about.

The biggest complaint I have heard about it is the screen is over saturated in blue tones. There may have been a software update to fix the issue but I’m not a hundred percent sure as I don’t follow android news. It seems like a nice phone, I personally do not like the android software.

It can’t be fixed with software. I’ve been having a lot of issues with my Apple crap lately and was messing around with a pixel in the shop. The screen looks blue if you’re looking at it from any angle that isn’t straight on, so I think it’s a hardware issue, adjusting the screen hue with software wouldn’t help because it’s uneven across viewing angles. Other than that it looked like a nice phone, I bet the pixel Xl 3 will be great.

I have a pixel XL2 and love it. Yes, I’ve noticed the bluish tinge from odd angles but the overall package is great. I had a nexus 6 and moved up to this. It’s smaller than my old phone but just better all-around.
I understand wanting perfection, but complaining is ridiculous. I can only imagine how goomed the next version will be, but this is close and wonderful for now.

As for the Android Software, there is no going back to Apple for me. Although I can see that eventually Google will move towards being as controlling as Mother Apple which is the reason I left Apple.

The biggest complaint I have is buying a phone from a company making money out of people’s behavior on the internet and their data.

Why is the title claiming the Pixel 2 XL as the best camera phone but you have a picture of the iPhone x ??
