Bell’s $60/10GB Non-Shareable Plan May Soon Support Apple Watch LTE

The $60/10GB promo plans offered last month by Rogers, Telus and Bell are deemed non-shareable plans, meaning the data cannot be shared with another line, account or device.

While some Telus customers on the plan were able to add support for their Apple Watch Series 3 LTE models, Bell customers were disappointed as the company did not allow any activations. But that may change soon, as apparently Bell is ready to support Apple’s newest smartwatch on the $60/10GB plan.

According to one unverified tip, Bell support staff were apparently notified of the upcoming change back on January 8th. Eligible customers will soon receive an opt-in message from the company to add Apple Watch support, which is said to still be charged at $5 per month.

Bell was the first Canadian wireless carrier to support Apple Watch LTE models last fall, priced at $5 per month. Telus followed in late 2017 to add LTE Apple Watch support, priced at $10 per month with 1GB data.

Rogers does not support Apple Watch Series 3 LTE, but says it plans to support eSIM on their networks in 2018; cellular Apple Watch models use electronic SIMs instead of traditional SIM cards.

Let us know if you’re seeing an option to add your Apple Watch Series 3 LTE to your $60/10GB plan from Bell. We’ve reached out to Bell for clarification on this and will update this story accordingly.

Thanks Pedro

The only reason i chose TELUS is apple watch, now BELL brings it out

honestly, it’s silly bell/telus took this stance. After reading that story of the guy who ended up in shark infested waters and called the coast guard with his watch, that alone is a reason to stop this nonsense. What if you got kidnapped and you had your watch, you cant make a call because of there silly policy.

I hope they change their stance across the board. i have an old unlimited data plan with bell and have the series 3 watch but cant use the network

I hear you but their are a lot of caveats. If the person who kidnaps you, turns your iPhone off, the watch will not work because even though it has a sim, it needs active iPhone connected to internet to work.

Not with the Apple Watch Series 3, once your phone is turned off, the watch can make and receive phone calls without your iPhone as long as the person has the Watch add-on on their plan

Oh ok. Calls can be made but no text messaging.

This is form Telus :Yes, if your Apple Watch Series 3 is connected to a cellular network or Wi-Fi, your watch can do everything that it normally does, even if your iPhone isn’t nearby. Your paired iPhone must be powered on and connected to Wi-Fi or the TELUS network to send or receive text messages, iMessages and email. You also need to be signed in to iMessage on your paired iPhone. You can however make calls from your Apple Watch Series 3 even when your iPhone is turned off.

That’s an extremely niche case but nonetheless, emergency (911) calls on any cellular device work without any subscription whatsoever — including the Apple Watch.

I already had an Apple Watch plan when I switched to the $60/10GB plan on my phone. It stopped working once the plan was changed but I didn’t cancel the Apple Watch plan in hopes of Bell fixing this to match Telus. I didn’t want to lose my $10 signup charge. My Watch currently says “Connected” though I’m not sure if I’m being charged data separately from my 10GB. I’ll find out once I get this month’s bill.comment image

I didn’t remove my watch from the bell plan, but I did remove it from the Apple Watch App on my iPhone because I wanted to try to see if it would connect, after this news. No luck though.

Anyone who sign up with BELL on the 10GIG plan during the Promo period got SCAM like me?? They sign me up for it and later tell me I didn’t sign me up for that Plan is not available now. I was on Koodo 10GIG plan and switch over to Bell since I like their Natinal coverage more. After they port my plan over during the PROMO period from Koodo, and told me the plan will show up on my account in 72 hours. After the promo period was over. I Told me they Didn’t sign me up for that plan and put me on a lower plan. I said I can,t get that PLAN anymore!!! Bunch of SCAM ARTIST!!! DO NOT SIGN UP to their network. THEY ARE SCAMMER!!! Tell you they match the PLAN and once you are on board THEY SCREW YOU OVER !!!! I am one of them.

Don’t know why you would switch from Koodo to Bell. It’s the same tower and same coverage. Tell me one place where bell works and Koodo doesn’t or vice versa

Like @ Manpreet Singh said, Bell/Telus share a Single HSPA/LTE network. Not sure where you got the idea that Bells Nationwide Coverage is more.

by the way After this rogue employee disconnected my line and closed my account I was able to call in and they easily reinstated my bell BYOD 60 account. They still have the option of adding that to people’s account because that’s exactly what they did for me so don’t believe their lies that they can’t do it anymore.

I can’t get my Apple Watch joined onto my Bell BYOD 60 plan. I called and got the rudest person ever on the phone. She didn’t hang up on me. NO she Disconnected my Bell line while I was in the middle of a sentence. Never mind all her rude remarks during our conversation. I had to call in again to get reconnected as I had my business line forwarded to my cell at the time of unexpected disconnection. It was beyond RUDE. No one could help me get the Apple Watch connected. I think someone is feeding you bogus info. I”m really upset that they don’t tell you that when you sign up. I asked specifically and was told it would work at time of sign up. SCAM much Bell? Also they didn’t tell anyone its not a shareable plan at time of signup. Everyone do yourself a favour and don’t EVER sign up to BELL.

I spend 3 hours talking to 2 reps yesterday, first sales rep then retention rep on getting Apple Watch ( contracted add-on) added to my 60$ for 10gb plan, they kept telling me it impossible to do because it’s a non-shareable data plan, has anyone else gotten the same result ?

I got the same answer after trying 2-3 reprsentatives. It’s really frustrating cause I was contemplating on switching to Telus but suddenly caught this article! I called a few Bell stores and finally got some assurance from an employee that Bell is indeed working on fixing the issue….just have to play the waiting game.

Been on a chat with Bell support (BTW, a very nice and polite rep); they confirmed receiving the internal memo on January 8 that their technical and Loyalty department was working on a solution about this issue, and that the Apple watch should soon work with the LoyBYOD60 plan. When? That’s something nobody could clarify vOv

Telus doesn’t have the add on for watch either, I’m currently with them and that’s what they have been telling me. So this article is wrong.

When i called on Friday, I was told that it wasnt able to be added because it was not a “Shared Plan”. OMG was i frustrated because the sales team at the corporate bell store said it was no problem, and the guys at apple also said it was no problem.

I was about to return it today and swap it for the non LTE version ($90 less) until I came across this article.

Very good to hear!

Please post when someone is able to get it added to the 10GB plan.

I got mine! Don’t need to call them! Just go to your iPhone Apple Watch app. Then go to the cellular tab to activate it.
But not sure I’m getting charged for 5 bucks or 10 bucks?
