Apple Faces Class Action Lawsuit Over MacBooks with ‘Butterfly Switch’ Keyboard

On Friday Night, Apple was hit with a class action lawsuit over the butterfly switch keyboards that have been on the MacBook Pro line since 2015.

The class action was filed in the Northern District Court of California and sites complaints of a finicky keyboard that failed for some users after only one month of use.

Kyle Barbaro and Zixua Rao, the two who filed the lawsuit, said that Apple must have known the keyboards were defective before they reached the public. They also accuse Apple of offering suggested remedies that don’t work, and never offering a permanent solution to the problem.

The lawsuit is asking for damages and a refund for anyone who paid to replace their keyboard.

Apple has faced criticism over the butterfly switch keyboard on both the 12-inch MacBook and MacBook Pros since they debuted the feature. Whether or not you like the feel of the keyboard, they are very sensitive and prone to error.
