For customers of Shaw’s Freedom Mobile, you can now subscribe to Apple’s Visual Voicemail on your iPhone.
According to iPhone in Canada reader Sylvain, Freedom Mobile activated the voicemail service as an add-on recently, priced at $4 per month. With Visual Voicemail on iPhone, users do not need to call into a voicemail mailbox, but rather see their messages listed, with listening requiring just one tap.
According to Sylvain, the system so far does not recognize international numbers, as it removes prefixes assumes each number is from North America.
However, the transcribe function for Visual Voicemail does work right now, for English voicemails.
Some Freedom Mobile customers suspected Visual Voicemail for iPhone was imminent, as two weeks ago, Apple updated their wireless carrier support and features website to list the feature underneath Freedom Mobile.
Recently, Freedom Mobile launched Wi-Fi Calling for select iPhone users.
