Analysts Expect iPhone 11 to Include Wi-Fi 6 Wireless Standard

Earlier today, a report by The Wall Street Journal claimed that Apple’s flagship 2019 lineup will feature three models, including 2 OLED and 1 LCD variant, and that top-of-the-line ‘iPhone 11 Max’ model will sport a triple-camera configuration.

Now, another 2019 iPhone forecast from Barclays is suggesting that Apple’s flagship ‘iPhone 11’ will also include support for the latest Wi-Fi standard i.e. the Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax), 9to5Mac is reporting.

For those who aren’t familiar with Wi-Fi 6 yet, it is basically the next-generation wireless standard that’s faster than 802.11ac and provides better performance in congested areas. It is believed that maximum potential speeds are up to 40% higher with Wi-Fi 6 compared to Wi-Fi 5:

The prediction was included as Barclays discussed Wi-Fi component vendor outlooks:

“We believe the 2019 iPhone and Galaxy Series features new WiFi 6 (ax), which should be a moderate tailwind for AVGO.”

Earlier reports have also hinted at improved Face ID and new antenna technology in this year’s iPhone lineup.
