If you’re a new subscriber to Rogers, Telus or Bell on a BYOD plan, you may want to make some plan changes to get bonus data.

Right now, all three wireless incumbents are offering 3GB of bonus data on BYOD (bring your own device) plans, starting at $80 per month for unlimited local calling.

So that means for $80 per month, you can get 1GB + 3GB of data for a local calling plan. Add $5 per month to get unlimited Canada-wide calling, for $85 per month. Ouch.

If you’re going to go BYOD, you’re much better off going with a flanker brand from the Big 3. For $85 per month, you can get 10GB of data and 500 Canada-wide minutes, with unlimited Canada-wide 5PM evenings and weekends from Fido, Koodo or Virgin.

Also, right now Fido, Koodo and Virgin are also offering Lunar New Year deals on BYOD plans, starting at $55/6GB in-store.
