Bell has announced their IP-based Fibe TV app is now available on Google Chromecast, which the company says is “yet another way for Alt TV and Fibe TV customers to access their TV service on more devices.”

According to a Bell spokesperson in an email to iPhone in Canada, television growth is being led by Fibe TV and Alt TV at Bell. Last year, over 110,000 Fibe TV customers were added, “driving positive TV growth overall despite ongoing declines in satellite TV.”

Bell says they had 2,853,081 Bell TV subscribers at the end of 2018, up 0.7% compared to 2017. Out of that number, 1,675,706 are Fibe TV customers, which saw an 8.1% increase over 2017.

The addition of Fibe TV on Google Chromecast joins Alt TV, Bell’s app-based live TV service (requires Bell internet, however) which is available via Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV and Android devices.

Shawn Omstead, Bell Vice President, Product Development & Management, told iPhone in Canada in a statement, “We are excited to offer Chromecast for ALT TV and Bell Fibe TV customers. We believe that delivering our leading TV services across a broad selection of relevant devices in the home is how Canadians want to enjoy TV.”

Last month, Bell Fibe TV for iOS was updated to extend the number of days customers could watch PVR recordings on their iOS devices.
