Apple to Reportedly Launch New iPod Touch on Wednesday

Tomorrow marks the first day of spring and it could also debut the first update to Apple’s iPod touch in nearly four years.

On Monday, Apple released new iPads, debuting a 10.5-inch iPad Air and refreshed iPad mini. Today, we saw the company’s iMac line up get a fresh with 8th and 9th generation Intel processors for the first time in nearly two years.

This week appears to be the week Apple will keep on giving, as Wednesday may see the debut of a new iPod touch, if a tipster from MacRumors is accurate. This anonymous tipster correctly predicted Apple would announce new iPads and Macs and their iPod touch prediction now appears to be spot on as well:

MacRumors received a tip earlier this month claiming that Apple would announce new iPads, iMacs, and iPods on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of this week, and so far this information has proved to be accurate with the arrival of new iPad Air and iPad mini models on Monday and an iMac refresh today. Naturally, we now expect Apple to introduce a new iPod touch tomorrow.

The current iPod touch is powered by the company’s aging A8 processor and starts at $249 CAD for a device with 32GB of storage. Any update would surely bring a chip upgrade and camera upgrades—but what about a larger display? We’ll find out soon enough.

With ‘quiet’ product announcements via press release, Apple is setting the stage for its special event next week to most likely focus entirely on its new video subscription offering, and not on hardware.

Monday we received iPads. Tuesday we got refreshed iMacs. Wednesday may see a new iPod touch? What about Thursday and Friday? AirPods 2 and AirPower?
