Setting up your physical Apple Card will be much like the setup process found in AirPods and the HomePod.
Pairing AirPods with an iOS device is painfully simple by design — Apple wants users to set up their AirPods with ease without having to deal with a plethora of menus and/or confusing settings.
As it turns out, the setup process for the recently-announced Apple Card credit card, at least the physical iteration of it, will be equally as simple. According to a new report from 9to5Mac, Apple seeded the first developer beta of iOS 12.3 today, and it’s since been discovered how activating the physical Apple Card will work — and it’s a lot like AirPods and the HomePod.
Specifically, users will simply lay the card near to their iPhone and users will see a window pop-up, much like for AirPods, showing that the card has been recognized and can be activated. Once this is done, users just need to tap “activate” on their iPhone and, voila, the card is ready to go.
It all seems pretty straightforward, especially when one compares it to activating other credit or debit cards, which often require making a phone call or even visiting an ATM for activation.
While the Apple Card activation process is certainly still being worked on, that’s to be expected as this is the very first beta version of the process.
Finally, on a somewhat unrelated note, like many other products and projects inside Apple, the Apple Card has a code name: “Broadway.”
In related news, the Apple Card should eventually come to international customers following its launch in the United States, according to Goldman Sachs International’s CEO.
