A certification for what may be this year’s iPhone lineup has allegedly surfaced on the Eurasian Economic Commission’s database.
According to a new report from Indian blog MySmartPrice, this year’s collection includes model numbers A2111, A2160, A2161, A2215, A2216, A2217, A2218, A2219, A2220, A2221, and A2223, all listed as Apple smartphones running iOS 12, with registration dates of April 30, 2019. These filings for the EEC are legally required for any encrypted devices sold in Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia.
This parallels last year’s filing on April 10, which included 11 Apple smartphones running iOS 11. There was speculation that the timing and older iOS version might signal the release of a new iPhone SE2, but that didn’t happen.
Since the EEC filings take place months ahead of the devices’ actual release, Apple generally references the currently shipping version of iOS rather than the one that will likely arrive in the fall — in this case, iOS 13 — after an introduction at WWDC.
As it stands, the iPhones of 2019 are rumoured to feature an enlarged rear-panel bump so as to accommodate a new triple-camera system. They may or may not be called the iPhone 11 (or XI) series, and may be like-for-like updates of the XR, XS and XS Max, respectively.
