Earlier this summer, people in the U.S. noticed Apple’s photo book, ‘Designed by Apple in California’ was listed as sold out online.

In Canada at the time, the book was still available for purchase. Now, it appears Apple may be ready to stop sales of the photo book, released nearly three years ago.

9to5Mac reports while the website for the book is still accessible, the online purchasing link now results in an error, suggesting sales have ceased in the U.S. The book is still available for purchase in the UK.

In Canada, the larger copy of ‘Designed by Apple in California’ is listed as sold out online and also ‘unavailable’ for in-store pick up.

Canadian pricing for two sizes of the photo book–which launched sales here two weeks after the U.S., are as follows:

  • $279: Designed by Apple in California – 260×324 mm
  • $399: Designed by Apple in California – 330×413 mm

Here’s the overview of the photo book, first released in November 2016, a project dedicated to late Apple co-founder, Steve Jobs:

“Designed by Apple In California” chronicles 20 years of Apple design through 450 photographs of our products and the processes used to make them. A visual history spanning iMac to Apple Pencil, complete with descriptions of innovative materials and techniques, it captures every detail with honesty and intention. Printed on specially milled German paper with gilded matt silver edges, using eight colour separations and low-ghost inks, this hardback volume took more than eight years to create and has been crafted with as much care and attention as the products featured within. It is both a testament and a tribute to the meticulous design, engineering and manufacturing methods that are singularly Apple.

“The idea of genuinely trying to make something great for humanity was Steve’s motivation from the beginning, and it remains both our ideal and our goal as Apple looks to the future,” said Jony Ive, Apple’s chief design officer, back in the fall of 2016.

“This archive is intended to be a gentle gathering of many of the products the team has designed over the years. We hope it brings some understanding to how and why they exist, while serving as a resource for students of all design disciplines,” explained Ive.

The book contains some spectacular photos and also comes with a hefty price tag. But for die-hard Apple fans, it’s a coffee table book to own for the ages.
