Last year when Apple debuted the iPhone XR, the smartphone did not include 3D Touch, but rather haptic touch instead. With haptic touch, users just touch and hold to perform similar 3D Touch functions, but without any physical feedback.

3D Touch offers features such as Quick Actions by pressing firmly on an app icon to get shortcuts, or by pressing and holding on a link to Peek and Pop a preview of a website. 3D Touch essentially can offer faster shortcuts versus haptic touch.

Rumours back in May pointed to 3D Touch getting axed from Apple’s flagship smartphones, and the company did just that today with the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max.

Apple didn’t mention this change at its keynote (why would they!), but quietly made the change on its website. When you go to the iPhone comparison tool, you’ll now see Haptic Touch is a common feature among the iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max and iPhone 11 (successor to the iPhone XR).

What does this mean? It means 3D Touch looks to be going the way of the Dodo bird. Why? Most likely for space and cost savings within the iPhone for increased battery life.

Are you going to miss 3D Touch on your iPhone 11 Pro or iPhone 11 Pro Max?
