Apple to Release New iPad Pro and ‘iPhone SE 2’ in ‘First Half of 2020’: Kuo

Two new Apple products are coming from Apple early next year with two very different target audiences, says an analyst.

Apple plans to release new iPad Pro models with rear 3D sensing as well as a new “iPhone SE 2” in the first half of 2020 says famed Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of TF Securities (via MacRumors).

The analyst says the new iPad Pro models will debut in the first half of 2020 and offer 3D-sensing through their rear-facing camera systems.

This distance-mapping sensor will measure how long it takes for a laser or LED to bounce off objects in an environment and get back to the camera, providing a more accurate 3D map of the camera’s surroundings. In the case of the iPad Pro, it would likely make AR software and tools more accurate in superimposing virtual things over real-world environments.

In the same note, Kuo also claims that the widely-rumoured iPhone SE 2 would also be coming in the first half of 2020, featuring similar features to the iPhone 8 but with a smaller 4.7-inch display and a faster A13 processor — the same chip found in the iPhone 11 and 11 Pro models.

Touch ID is expected on the iPhone SE 2, along with 3GB of RAM. Kuo predicts the device will start around $399 USD with 64GB of storage and will come in Space Gray, Silver and Red colour options.
