The Rumoured iPhone 9 May Include a Home Button

It’s been heavily rumoured that Apple is in development on an iPhone 9. Based on previous reports, Apple may be looking to produce an iPhone SE successor, while providing its users with a low-cost alternative to its flagship models.

While filling the gap between iPhone 8 and iPhone X, new reports indicate that the iPhone 9 will be based on the body of the iPhone 8, including the now-abandoned home button. GSMArena caught wind of a new report that indicated the return of the home button from Twitter user Evan Blass.

Known as a reliable Apple insider and leaker, Blass countered the initial claims stating Apple would utilize Face ID and implement a larger screen on the iPhone 9. Instead, Bliss believes the new iPhone will be based on the iPhone 8’s body, home button included and all. This would make the iPhone 9 the first Apple smartphone to include a traditional home button since 2017.

Apple is no stranger to providing customers with a lower-cost entry point when launching a new line of smartphones. The iPhone XR proved to be successful and a popular option when the iPhone X launched.

In addition, Blass notes that the reveal of the iPhone 9 could come in a short time. He suggests that Apple may announce and release the phone this spring.
