When Microsoft unveiled its next-generation Xbox Series X console featuring a design reminiscent of a compact PC tower back in February, it vaguely announced a “holiday 2020” release date but now, the company has confirmed it will be launching the Xbox Series X in November (via The Verge).
While we don’t have a specific release date for Xbox Series X in Canada or other regions yet, it is safe to assume based on recent leaks that the console would launch in the first week of November. The company was initially planning a simultaneous launch of Halo Infinite, which has now been pushed back to 2021.
The lack of Halo Infinite, however, does mean there’s no big launch title for the Xbox Series X coming out in 2020.
Microsoft is choosing to highlight Xbox Game Pass, alongside “more than 50 new games” that are launching this year with optimizations for Xbox Series X. More than 40 existing games will also be optimized for Xbox Series X, which can include anything from hardware-accelerated DirectX ray tracing, 120fps frame rates, faster loading times, and Quick Resume support.
Microsoft has also confirmed that existing backward compatible games across Xbox, Xbox 360, and Xbox One will also run on the Xbox Series X.
